FAQs

Why should I choose a private speech therapist?

A parent might opt for private therapy if their child does not qualify for community or school district therapy services even when a disorder is present, the family might prefer more individualized therapy than group therapy offered in the school. Parents may not have the time to drive to hospital- or clinic-based therapy setting and prefer the convenience of telepractice. Adults have busy schedules, telepractice  provides flexibility and easy of access to needed services.

How long is a typical therapy session?

Sessions are 30-45 minutes long, depending on the client’s needs.

Why aren’t you in-network for insurance?

So that your therapist is able to freely focus on what’s best for your child’s/your progress in treatment. Sessions are free from the detrimental breaks between sessions that frequently occur while awaiting authorization from insurance.

Evaluations and treatment start promptly rather than the long wait time the occur with insurance which includes getting pre-authorization to test, then testing, and then getting authorization for treatment which may not last long enough to fully address the clients needs/goals

An ever-increasing number of insurance plans deny claims for speech therapy for diagnoses other than those related to severe developmental delays and disorders, such as autism and various syndromes. For this reason, regardless of whether a particular provider is in-network with your insurance, it’s likely you will pay out-of-pocket for speech therapy services.

Your therapist is able to spend time better preparing for your sessions and has time to research evidence based practices to address areas of need, rather than spending hours on the phone with insurance companies trying to deal with denied claims.
